Cabernet Franc

Harvested during the second week of September 2021. The grapes were hand-picked into 15 kg crates, with careful selection during harvest. After picking, the grapes underwent a 48-hour maceration and were cooled to 0°C.

Cabernet Franc Blend

Technically a monovarietal wine, this blend consists of 91% Cabernet Franc and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The grapes come from our Ermita vineyard, where the vines were five years old at the time. This was also our very first harvest. The soil consists of sandy loam with light stone influence.

The grapes first underwent a 48-hour maceration at 0°C. They were then destemmed, after which the must was macerated for a further two days before the yeast was added.

Both varieties were fermented and aged separately in French oak barrels (first and second year use). The Cabernet Franc matured for 16 months, while the Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months.

In the glass

This wine was bottled in spring 2024.

Only 1,100 bottles and 80 magnums were produced.

The wine is beautifully clear, with a deep ruby-red colour.

The nose reveals ripe black fruit, lightly stewed notes, liquorice, and cedar.

Balanced on the palate, this Cabernet Franc shows fine acidity,

generous dark fruit character, and cedarwood notes, followed by a gently spiced finish.

Our first Cabernet Franc received 91 points at Akatavino and 92 points from Verema in 2025.
