Alexander
A single-varietal Monastrell, 100%.
Harvested in the fourth week of September 2024. Picked by hand into 15kg crates, with careful selection during picking. After picking, the grapes were macerated for 48 hours and chilled to 0°C.
Single Varietal Monastrell
Our first single-varietal wine from the Monastrell we planted ourselves, eight years on. The subsoil is sandy loam with light stone.
The grapes first macerated for 48 hours at 0°C. They were then destemmed, and the must macerated for 2 days before the yeast was added. The wine fermented in a stainless steel tank for 28 days. This Monastrell was aged for 4 months in concrete tanks, then 3 months in third-use French oak barrels. The wine was bottled on 11 February 2025.
In the glass
We filled just 1,100 bottles and 80 magnums of this Monastrell vintage. An excellent year.
The wine is clear and ruby red. On the nose it shows ripe black fruit, lightly stewed. This Monastrell is balanced on the palate, with fine acidity and pronounced but well-integrated tannins, black fruit and a hint of minerality. There are also notes of ripe figs and herbs such as bay leaf and rosemary. The wine has a pleasantly long finish.
